Brief Program Description
This program is for Elderly & Disabled Homeowners that meet the required qualifications listed below. The benefit is reflected in a reduction to the annual Real Estate taxes on a primary residential property. The re-application process is every other year.
Homeowners Tax Relief Requirements
- Driver’s license or birth certificate showing that you or your spouse must have been 65 years of age by December 31, 2022
- File between February 1, 2023 and May 15, 2023
- If you are not 65, you must be over 18 and social security disabled; you must submit a recent TPQY printout from Social Security indicating that you are a disabled individual and the date which the disability began
- Maximum income:
- Single - $40,300
- Married - $49,100
- Proof of all 2022 income (qualifying income is total income for IRS plus Social Security income including Medicare):
- Bank interest
- Pension
- Social Security (including Medicare)
- Any other income from 2022
In order for us to process your claim, a copy of your SSA 1099 Form must accompany your application. If you file a 2022 federal income tax return we must have a copy. Also, you must own the property or have life use of the property and be liable for payment of taxes. (Ownership as of October 1, 2022)
