Bristol’s Emergency Management Leadership presented at a Special Meeting of the Bristol Commission for Persons with Disabilities, at the Bristol Public Library on April 19th. Presentations featured overviews of department Policies , Procedures and Responsibilities, involving individuals with disabilities and special needs during emergency circumstances. Bristol’s collaborative inter-agency (Police, Fire, and EMS) “911 System” was also discussed , along with a detailed review of Voluntary “Special Needs Registries” operated by the Police and Fire Departments. These Registries, enable individuals and families to enroll and document information about their special needs in order to provide advance information and readiness for first responders who may by dispatched to their home during an emergency. Following formal presentations, a lively gallery interactive Q&A brought additional questions to the floor.
