The Youth and Community Services Division oversees evictions for the City of Bristol. In the case of an eviction, the State Marshall assigned to the case notifies Community Services staff with the scheduled eviction. Tenants being evicted are encouraged to vacate the premise and remove their belongings prior to the eviction date. In the case that the tenant and their belongs are not removed from the property on the day of the eviction, movers hired by the State Marshall will remove the evictee's belongings and the City will provide storage of the evictee's possessions at the cost of $50 + $10/day. The evictee is then notified by Community Services staff of the cost of moving and storage and the time frame available to recover processions. Community Services staff works with the evictee to assist in reclaiming their items, as well as finding alternate shelter and/or food sources for each individual or family at the time of eviction.
If the individual or family does not reclaim their property, an auction is conducted by Community Services staffs, and all monies go into the City's general fund.
